About Us - Our History
Whitney & Smith Legendary Expeditions is a Canadian company owned and operated by wildlife biologists and professional expedition guides. Since 1986 we have been leading expeditions in Argentina, Chile, Baja California (Mexico), the Queen Charlotte Islands, the Antarctic and the High Arctic. In the Arctic we have operated hundreds of kayaking and hiking expeditions on Ellesmere Island alone.
Our Year 2007 trip itineraries represent the finest wilderness expeditions to be found in the High Arctic, in Patagonia and on the Canadian West Coast. Over 75% of our trip space is filled by repeat clientele and their friends, people returning to share with us in the discovery of outstanding wilderness lands.
Whitney & Smith's in-depth knowledge of each region allows timing of trip departures so as to correspond with optimal wildlife abundance and weather patterns and our small group sizes of 8 to 10 - the smallest offered in the industry - affords everyone the opportunity to get closer to nature. The rewards are many and often a group will experience spectacular wildlife behaviour such as a whale surfacing between the kayaks, walrus gathered together on an ice pan, or an Andean condor swooping off a roost overhead.
